The client wanted something that embodied her free spirit as well as connection to the earth. She has a very holistic approach to health and her own story has been one of growth through many trials. She wanted the representation of strength, rootedness and reaching for new knowledge. She had submitted the artwork on the far left below.
We experimented with a few different stances with the figure, to create strength of body but also establishing a sense of grounding. Also, we played with the idea of tying into the client's Mexican heritage. As much as she liked this, she was more drawn to the natural look of the branches. In the end, the stance of the original inspiration was still what translated best - arms extended and legs rooted and strong. The client has a special connection to the moon, so that was added. And finally, what worked best was to have the roots growing down into the words "root2rise"

The client liked cool colors and was drawn to blue the most. We went with shades of a very cool blue. The client's personality is very straightforward, casual, with a more personal feel. Therefore, we went with a font that has a more handwritten feel when it came to headings and emphasis, and a clear, strong sans serif font for all paragraph text.
